How we handle information

Data policy

This page says what Appetite actually does with the information you give it. It is written to describe the system as it is built today, not as a policy template would describe it. If something here reads uncomfortably, it is because it is true, and you are entitled to know it before you type a deal into the box.

As at 3 August 2026

The short version
Four things worth knowing before you read the rest
  • We keep the scenario you type, in full, exactly as you wrote it. Not a summary, not a redacted copy. The whole text, together with the answer the engine gave back.
  • We use those scenarios to improve the product. Real deals described in a broker's own words, paired with what the engine said, are what make the engine better at reading the next one.
  • There is no set deletion date yet. Today scenarios are kept indefinitely. We have not chosen a retention period, and we would rather tell you that than invent one here.
  • This applies to the public demo too. If you run a deal on the demo page without signing in, the text is still kept. It is kept without your name attached, but it is kept.

Appetite HQ Pty Ltd is the company that holds the information described on this page, and the company you deal with when you want a copy of it, a correction to it, or its deletion. Either address above reaches us. Post is slower than email and we would rather you emailed, but a letter is a valid way to reach us and we will answer it.

What we collect

Three kinds of information

1. Your account and sign-up details

If you sign up, request early access, or ask to be told when the platform opens, we store what you gave us on the form: your name, email address, phone number, the brokerage you work for and your aggregator, plus any note you wrote. If you have a login, we also store a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), your role, and the times you signed in and last used the product.

2. What you type into the scenario box

When you describe a deal, we store the complete text you typed, word for word, and the complete placement card the engine produced from it. We do not trim it, tidy it, or strip anything out of it first. If your description contained a borrower's name, a business name, an address, an ABN, income figures, a credit default, an ATO debt or a director's personal circumstances, then that is what is stored, because that is what you wrote.

We also keep a short record of the call itself: when it ran, a fingerprint of the text, the first 240 characters of it, which surface it came from, how long it took, and how much of the model's capacity it used.

If you submit the interest form on the demo page, the scenario you had on screen at that moment is stored alongside your contact details, so we can see what you were looking at when you asked about the product.

3. Usage records

Timestamps, counts, response times and which part of the product a request came from. This is how we know whether the thing is working. It carries no deal content of its own.

What we do not collect

There is no advertising, no analytics tracker, no third-party pixel and no fingerprinting on any Appetite page. Two cookies exist: one that keeps you signed in, and one signed counter on the demo page that remembers how many free assessments you have run. Neither identifies you to anyone else.

Why we keep it

To answer the question. The engine cannot read a deal it has not been given, and the card cannot be delivered back to you without a record of the request.

To improve the product. This is the part most policies do not say out loud, so it is said plainly here. The scenarios brokers write, and the cards the engine writes back, are kept as a body of real examples and used to make the engine better at reading deals. That is a deliberate decision, not a side effect of logging.

To run the account. Signing you in, working out what you have access to, and keeping track of usage against your plan.

We do not sell information about you or your clients, and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Indefinitely, today. No retention period has been set for scenario text or for placement cards, and none is being implied here. Account records are kept for as long as the account exists and for a period afterwards for ordinary business and record-keeping reasons.

Setting a retention period is on the list of things to do properly, and when one is set this page will say what it is and this page's date will change. Until then, the honest answer is the one above.

You do not have to wait for that to happen. You can ask us to delete your material at any time — see below.

Who it goes to

The scenario text leaves our systems

Producing a placement card requires sending your scenario text to two AI model providers, both of which are based in the United States. There is no version of the product that works without this.

Model provider
Anthropic (United States) — reads the scenario and writes the placement card.
Model provider
OpenAI (United States) — converts the scenario into the numerical form used to search lender policy.
Hosting and database
The application and its database run in Sydney, Australia, on infrastructure operated by Fly.io and Supabase, both United States companies. Traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare.
Web fonts
Page typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. No deal content is involved.

Who it does not go to

Lenders never see your scenarios. Not the text, not the card, not your name, not your client's. Nothing on this platform sends a deal to a lender, and no lender has a login that could read one. We do not sell, rent or share this information with anyone else, and there is no advertising network involved at any point.

Your client's information
Read this before you paste a deal in

If you are a broker, the information you type about your client is your client's information, and getting their consent to enter it here is your responsibility. Appetite has no relationship with your client, has never spoken to them, and cannot ask them anything. When you describe their deal in this box, you are disclosing their information to us, and you should be satisfied that your own privacy consents and your own credit-guide obligations cover doing so.

If you would rather not, you do not have to name anyone. The engine reads the shape of a deal, not the identity of the borrower. "Manufacturer, 6 years trading, wants to buy their premises at $2.1m, one paid ATO default two years ago" produces the same card as the same sentence with a name, an ABN and a street address attached. Leaving those out costs you nothing and is the safer habit.

Asking us for something

A copy, a correction, or a deletion

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. That includes scenarios you have run. Send the request to hello@appetite.finance, or write to Appetite HQ Pty Ltd at the registered office above, and tell us enough for us to find your material — the email address on your account, and roughly when the scenarios were run.

Two things stated honestly: there is no self-service delete button today, and the work is done by hand. We will acknowledge a request and tell you what we have done about it. If you are unhappy with the answer, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If you are a borrower rather than a broker, and you believe a broker has entered your information here, you can make the same request. We will need enough detail to find it.

Security and changes

Security. Access to stored scenarios requires an administrator credential. A broker signed in to the desk cannot read another broker's scenarios, and the demo page cannot read any of them. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Traffic to the site is encrypted in transit.

Changes to this page. When what the product does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves forward. It will not be quietly edited to describe something the system does not do, and it will not be backdated.

What this page is not

Appetite is an information platform. It summarises published lender policy and is indicative only. It is not a finance offer, an approval, or credit assistance, and it does not take account of any person's objectives, financial situation or needs. Nothing on this page changes that, and nothing on this page is legal advice to you.

Appetite is an information platform. Results are indicative only.
