About
Appetite exists because commercial placement is decided by knowledge that nobody can hold, that nobody writes down, and that goes out of date every week.
A commercial broker's real asset is a private map of who is writing what this month. It is assembled from BDM calls, a decline you still remember, and the two or three lenders you reach for first. Everyone in the industry has one, everyone's is incomplete, and everyone's is out of date the moment a lender moves a floor or quietly pulls a product.
The cost of that is invisible and it is not small. It is the client placed at a rate a lender four names down the list would have beaten. It is the week spent on a file that was never going to fly, for a reason published on page eleven of a policy guide nobody had read that quarter.
Every other part of the job has been given software. The part that decides the outcome has not.
Appetite is built on every lender's published policy, refined across fifteen years on every side of SME finance. Not scraped guesses and not opinion: the documents lenders publish about what they will write, read carefully, structured, and kept current.
That is why every recommendation cites the document behind it. A broker should be able to check the reasoning and disagree with it, which is a different relationship with software than being told an answer.
Each of those costs money to hold to. They are held to anyway, because a placement tool that can be influenced is worth less than no placement tool at all.
Appetite is Australian, based in Sydney, and operated by Appetite HQ Pty Ltd. The platform is built and running: the placement engine, the client portal, submission packs, signing, commissions, reviews and calculators are all live, and the corpus covers 190 lenders and 929 published products across commercial and asset finance.
The first 25 brokers are being taken on as founding users now. That number is small on purpose, because early users get a level of attention that does not scale, and because a product like this is improved by a handful of people using it properly rather than by a crowd using it once.
